Sitting here on a Sunday morning, sipping on a bottle of Vitargo. My body will appreciate that carbo booster during todays longer run. Hopefully 21 km's. I'm a true believer in Vitargo and it's not just mentally. Started yesterday morning with one bottle and felt fantastic during the MC-gang triathlon training. Jörgen, David & Micke joined me for a 1200 meter swim, 22 km bike ride & a 13 km run. Good practice for "some of us" that haven't tried triathlon before. There are a few preparations to do ... It was good fun anyhow and as always, just to be around these positive guys, makes me feel very good. Even my body felt good, so now I'm even more motivated to increase the training.

It will be perfect to do a longer run now and then follow some olympics on TV. Stefan Holm (a true hero) is jumping today. His attitude is adorable and funny. I'm also a big fan of his father/trainer, Jonny. No media trainer or stylist has destroyed him. I will also watch the first game of the season for Man Utd in premier leauge against Newcastle.

Easygoing activities at home together with Nellie & Misia, waiting for the little one to pop out.

I mounted the tribar on my road bike today and took it for a "spin". Biked my classic route to Hindås/Hjortviken and back through Mölnlycke, 56 km's. I was surprised how much more comfortable I felt with my elbows resting on the tribar and I was also very positive when I checked the statistics on my speedometer/computer. Last time (before Vätternrundan) I biked here I averaged at 26 km/h and today I had 28 and felt at the same time stronger both during the exercise and after. No super speed, but that's my pace nowadays. It definately makes a difference using it and I felt better in my neck and shoulders. It gives me another position to shift in to over longer flat parts and I also feel more like a real triathlete doing it (the mental self picture). I wanna be an Ironman again!!

Today, I've done something that I was destined to work with. Both my father, uncle & grandfather were tinsmiths / sheet metal workers, running their own business in Kvänum, started by my grandfather, Arthur. Being the only son of the next (3rd) generation, I was expected to take over the family business. I also spent most of my school summer breaks as an apprentice in the workshop or assisting dad during field work at some buildings, mainly on roofs and sometimes even on the top of churches or big farm barns. I suppose that I could have kept doing that kind of work for the rest of my life and also live a rather good life doing it, but I realized that I'm to curious of other things in life and the world outside the farming areas around Kvänum, so I decided already as a 16 year old, to study and do something totally different. I also had a problem working with my father, so it was a relief for me to go in another direction.

Anyhow, today I put up rain gutters and drain-pipes on Oliver's house. I have to admit that I felt a bit lost without Dad, who always did all the qualified parts of the work in the old days. Now I had to figure out all the metrics and do all the craftsman work myself. I wasn't to keen to do it when I started, but I wanted to have it done before the autumn rain starts. Half way through the project, I actually started to like it and felt a little bit proud of myself when I saw the progress. Perhaps I have something suitable in my genes & blood ... The result was very good and the rain has already arrived and it works brilliantly!! It even looks nice.

Bad weather is no real good reason for skipping a planned run, but right now I'm sitting here waiting for it to stop. The plan is to take Nellie along in the baby jogger and then I think it's wise to wait for better weather. She's keen to go (always), so sooner or later we will start our 10 km's passing the golf course and back. Last night we went for a new bike ride down to Kåhög & Partille. 17 km's and it's a good hill coming back up to Kåsjön, especially if you push it like last night. Then I had a positive run together with MC-Jörgen down in Mellby & Partille, approx 10 km's. I felt good running-wise, probably due to that Jörgen was just back from vacation with a break from training. But he's a positive fighter, so he will soon be back in full speed again, leaving me behind. Well, wait a moment now, if, if, ... if I can keep the training up more regulary from now on and have less pain in my heel, I will not accept any one in the MC gang, except David L, to be in front of me in the future.  That's the attitude!!

Now, I have suddenly been eating to many cookies, while blogging, so I hope it rains for another hour or two. Can't run with dough in my belly.

Otherwise, the biggest happening of the day is the new microwave oven. Work is still very slow and boring. Not enough of problems to take care of or activities to plan forward for. I just need to stay patient until my new role is decided. Patience isn't something that I'm very good at, so I better keep myself busy with other stuff. Still raining ...

Not much action from me this weekend. Some testing of the MTB after maintenance work. Good to have it back in biz again. Will try to use it more often in the future, even though I'm not that technically skilled in the forest. Tried some harder sections around Delsjön last night, but it takes a lot of concentration and guts. I prefer easy tracks or forest roads. More pleasure & relax.

It has been great to follow the biking road races on TV. Lots of crazy tactics etc. Very unpredictable and exciting.

We went to Mum & Dad's place in Kvänum for Sunday dinner. Very tasty salmon with potatoes etc. Misia brought home lots of plums from a tree in their garden.

Weather has been a bit wet, but that's good, so I don't feel to bad watching TV/Olympics.

Due to some restlessness, I got out to do a run today, since my heel felt OK (after antiinflammatoric pills). Did the 20 km's around Härlanda Tjärn and felt surprisingly good all the way. 1.47 was better then I can remember. 4 min faster than last week for example. Hmmm... but now in the evening, my heel is swollen and painful. Shit!!! Also had a late bike ride with Nellie on the back of the bike, 24 km's around Rådasjön. Very nice indeed. Nellie is good company. We also went for a 25 km's trip last night and we managed to see a moose in the forest, close to Bertilssons stuga. Cool!!

The olympic games in Beijing started today, with opening ceremony. It's to long and I just saw some parts of it. Impressive show anyhow. There is a crazy hype around the olympic games. Quite often I'm bored half way through it. I will pay some extra attention this time on the triathlon, MTB, biking, and as always the track & fields. Normally, I prefer to follow the English Premier leauge. It's more evenly spread out over the season and it's a nice mental relax to watch it without being to fanatic about it, even though I have to admit that I love to see Man Utd win and Arsenal lose.

Work is still very slow, since most people haven't gotten back from vacation yet. Hard to keep the working dicipline up, but it will most certainly change as from next week. I also need a new challenge to get back up on my toes again. Hopefully my new position will be decided before the end of Aug.

It took just a few hours for my "go easy" strategy to fail. Micke S came by and we ran 10 km's around the lake, mainly off road. Then over 1000 m swimming in Kåsjön. Good workout, but my right heel is not feeling to good today. So I decided to call the Health Care to get a new check-up and hopefully a remittance to an Ortopedic specialist. I just need to have some surgery done to get rid of the problem once and for all. It's now 2½ years since this problem started and I have been neglecting it long enough. I have done lots of marathons etc anyway, but always with pain & problems afterwards. I also hate to eat anti-inflammatoric pills or any other medications, so finally "Alea iacta est" as Ceasar said. I would love to go out for LSD training sessions, but right now it's impossible due to this. Let's see what happens. I would like to have the surgery done by Dr Bertil Romanus, who is treating Peter Forsberg amongst others.

I have also decided to cancel the weekly tennis hour at Landvetter TK. Oliver might be a bit disappointed, but right now it's not possible to play any tennis at all. I will try to do some biking again, both on the racer and on the MTB. Also do some milage on the bike with kids seat on the back, together with Nellie. Se loves the action.

If the Baby Goofy delivery is going OK timewise, I might consider participating in the Tjörn Half Ironman on Aug 30. Good to have a mental target in front of you. I will do a late entry in that case.

Well, well, well ... I know, I know, I'm a late adapter. But I have recently taken interest in reading some other peoples pages, so why not dropping some thoughts here myself. What about then? Hmmm... perhaps around life in general, but probably more around training etc. This will hopefully help me in motivating myself to train more consistently.

I have to admit that I have been very lazy most of the summer, with no real willpower or enthusiasm. After a very hectic return to life in Sweden, incl moving into a new house, starting a new job, etc. I also participated in Göteborgsvarvet, Stockholm Marathon & Vätternrundan within the period of one month.  This was a little bit to much in the overall perspective, so I felt worn out both physically & mentally. Then I lost a 3 hours tennis game over 5 sets to Micke S. This must have been the lowest point of my sports career, so I felt like never doing anything ever again after that debacle. Anyhow, time passes and the memory is rather short. Now I feel motivated again to do lots of training again, but I will go a bit easy, since I have had lots of injuries the last couple of years. Still suffer from a bad right achilles & heel spore.

Today I have been out jogging 10 km with Nellie in the babyjogger. No stress ...

More to come ...
